Are you sure he wasn't John Cleese?

Furry muff Russell, we'll agree to disagree on that.

Any more stories about repka?

The two you've told are interesting.

Who would win in a fight though?

Dicks vs Repka

That is a tough call.

Re: Tomas Repka
Thing is Russ others aren't wrong, if you like consistency, professionalism and sound judgement then Repka wasn't your man.

I thought he was a good player who couldn't control himself, you'll never get anyone to agree on this guy.

My mate was driving through the back streets of Buckhurst Hill and he came across a car that was blocking road, bonnet, boot and all the doors were open with the engine running. After a few minutes he gave a little toot on his horn and all of a sudden Repka appears with golf club in wild rage and starts to smash his own car up.

He was a fruit cake.

"And he was pony. Utter, utter pony."

That's exactly what I mean. He just wasn't. It's just not true. Yes, his positioning could be suspect at times and his final ball better.

He was by from an excellent player at that level but he just simply was not as bad as people seem to make out.

Re: Tomas Repka
He was a bit of a liability but he had as much heart as anyone.

If he hadn't been subbed against Leeds in that 4-3 defeat at home in 2002, he would have taken Mark Viduka's head off. No doubt about it!

Re: Tomas Repka
A grip on what?

He was our record signing at the time for £5.5mil, massive money for us, that is the context you have to give it. And he was pony. Utter, utter pony. If he wasn't mental, which our fans seem to love for some reason, you'd say exactly the same if you were just judging his footballing ability.

Re: Tomas Repka
If anyone knocked the ball past him, even if only to the feet of another West Ham player, he took it as a personal insult.

A foul was the inevitable result.

Re: Tomas Repka
W4 – I used to see Repka out with his missus when he played for West Ham, a truly stunning women. I would…….

Russ – I concur.

T Repka is, I am told, by people who would know, an absolutely frightening bastard if upset. He sorted out Pardew’s dressing room when some of the more feeble minded were exploited by the gambling clique. An aging forward particularly incurred his wroth. Repka didn’t like the gambling so he joined the card school and acted the fool and the novice, which he was not, and drew some of the smart arses in and then took then for some serious £££.

Some needed a little encouragement to settle any outstanding balances.

Re: Tomas Repka
An absolute abortion of a player for us.

On the face of it, given the young talent coming through, and the very good squad we had, given he cost £5mil (a fortune for us at the time) has to go down as one of our worst signings, along with DEADLY Don.

If we had got that spending right, with the right man in charge, we could've been an absolute force. We all know what happened from there...

Re: Tomas Repka
I liked him. Very committed and had a big heart. Always up for a scrap. Was never the best player at that level but he was nowhere near as bad as people make out. He played 30 odd times for the Czech's, was Fiorientina's captain and held his own in the English league. You just can't do that and be as bad as many people say. I think its too easy just to say he was shit. I saw him have many a very good game for us. And at least you knew when we lost he left everything out there; unlike some of the snidy cunts who played for us during his time who came off without an bead of sweat on their brow.

Re: Tomas Repka
There's a clip of his last moments on YouTube, decent it is, all the players round him singing his name.

That's probably the last era it felt really enjoyable following us.

Re: Tomas Repka
I liked him too. You couldn't fault his commitment.

Pretty much the whole stadium sang for him in his final game against Fulham. One of the better send offs in recent times. I can only think of Collins' recently that's matched it.

I liked him, he wasn't the best, in fact absolute toilet at times but in the BML chicken run corner we adored him.

Re: Tomas Repka
Rio would have looked a cunt if he had dailly or breen alongside him
Dailly was a shocking defender and I remember our back four holding a high line unti the oppo went to play it forward at which point breen used to run back 15 yards to give his useless slow self a chance and the rest of the back four were hung out to dry. Especially repka

cholo 9:36 Fri Aug 24
Re: Tomas Repka
He was popular with some fans as they saw him as the natural replacement of Dicks, even though one could genuinely play and the other, it would soon turn out, was hapless. Seems to genuinely be a bit of a cunt though.
